Investment Programs» Zero E Fund
The Zero E (Emission) Fund is the manifestation of a powerful idea – to one day build a zero emission community that doesn’t require the forfeiture of aesthetic appeal for conservation. Although this is not an overnight transformation or objective, the long-term pursuit of this goal will lead us to new technology, new eco-partnerships, and a greater understanding of how to bring about sustainability in our everyday lives.
The Zero E Fund is also an effort to set new standards for corporate responsibility and we hope that other home builders, commercial and retail developers, and REITs will follow suit. Zero E offers the investment community a chance to not only profit from their capital investment, but to profit from their contribution to a greater cause. The fund will be available to Accredited Investors as defined by the Securities & Exchange Commission. To request a prospectus please click here.
Zero E will seek to raise $300M in 2009 to fund construction and redevelopment of over 3,000,000 sq. ft. of residential and commercial space to either meet or exceed LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Green Building standards. In so doing, the fund will strive to continuously reduce energy consumption and waste year after year until zero emission is finally realized in a practical and affordable package.
Buildings have a profound impact on our natural environment, economy, health, and productivity.
In the United States alone, buildings account for:
- 65% of electricity consumption,
- 36% of energy use,
- 30% of greenhouse gas emissions,
- 30% of raw materials use,
- 30% of waste output (136 million tons annually), and
- 12% of potable water consumption.
Breakthroughs in building science, technology, and operations are available to designers, builders, and owners who want to build green and maximize both economic and environmental performance.
