About EB-5
Under section 203(b)(5) of the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA), 8 U.S.C. § 1153(b)(5), 10,000 immigrant visas per year are available to qualified individuals seeking permanent resident status on the basis of their engagement in a new commercial enterprise. This is commonly referred to as the Investor Visa Program and is administered to by USCIS (United States Citizenship and Immigration Service).
The EB-5 program is designed to strengthen the U.S. economy by encouraging foreign investment into new or existing U.S. businesses that create or retain a requisite number of jobs. Typically, the requirement is 10 jobs per $1,000,000 invested from each foreign investor, although this figure may differ based on the project classification and location. With a Green Card via an EB5 investment visa you will have the flexibility to take any job, run any business, retire and live anywhere in the USA. There are no limitations as to the nature of the new enterprise; however, foreign investors are often presented with a narrow set of options which predominantly include farming and agricultural ventures.
